Sandeep Rai is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of The Circle India. He had helped launch Teach For India in 2008 after teaching secondary science as a Teach For America Corps Member in Washington DC. Over the past twelve years, Sandeep has been a key architect of Teach For India’s organizational strategy and flagship fellowship program. After serving in more than half a dozen roles, 2017 he began overseeing strategy and operations across the organization’s eight regions.

Sandeep has always believed in the transformational power of schools to offer opportunity and promise for children from underserved backgrounds. That conviction - coupled with the belief that schools need to be fundamentally reinvented - has driven the founding of The Circle. Sandeep has a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Economic Policy from Columbia University, New York and a Master in Secondary Teaching and Education from American University. He serves on the boards of iTeach Schools, Saturday Art Class, and Teach For India. Sandeep has shared his experiences in a book he authored, "Grey Sunshine, Stories from Teach For India”.

He is a stand-up comedian, writer, radio host and podcaster. He also happened to get diagnosed on the autism spectrum last year which in recollection inspired most of his life of writing

He also happened to get diagnosed on the autism spectrum last year which in recollection inspired most of his life of writing and comedy, he’ll talk about it more on our live chat next week. He is co-host of The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio, and recent TV appearances include World’s Most Dangerous Roads (Dave), The Mash Report (BBC2), and Stand Up Central (Comedy Central). On the radio, Pierre has performed on The Now Show (Radio 4), hosts the BBC Sounds podcast series Obsessed With… SAS: Rogue Heroes and co-hosts the hit podcast Budpod with Phil Wang. As a writer, Pierre was one of the regular writers on the rebooted Spitting Image (ITV/Britbox) and has also written on shows including Mock the Week (BBC2), The News Quiz (Radio 4) and The Mash Report (BBC2). One of the UK’s most acclaimed live acts, Pierre‘s latest show Why Can’t I Just Enjoy Things? saw a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and was his third show to have been placed in the top 20 best-reviewed comedy shows across the entire festival. Following an extended run at Soho Theatre, Pierre will be taking the show on his debut nationwide tour in the Autumn. He first special, Quiet Ones, was distributed by US comedy label 800 Pound Gorilla Records and has amassed over 250,000 views online.
